Soul Care is a virtual mixed group focusing on surviving and thriving during COVID. Our new abnormal will probably extend for some time yet. Many of us are feeling disconnected from close relationships and also not sure about our way forward with our careers. In crisis, there is opportunity if we can see past our fears and limiting beliefs about ourselves!
Robert Cornell is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Los Angeles, Ca. His specialty is in spiritual psychology, the rich area of overlap between psychology and spirituality. His passion is in exploring with his clients this deep interconnection between these fields of healing, growth and personal realization.
Robert does individual and couples therapy with the focus being on helping people to grow into their best selves. He especially likes taking on the role of a caring thoughtful parental figure who provides the support and guidance that his clients often did not get growing up. He sees a lot of individuals who were abused or neglected as children and are trying to heal repetitive and self defeating patterns of behavior in their work and relationships. He also runs small groups for men and women where they can get support and learn skills such as mindfulness and self compassion.
Because of Robert's business background, he often advises clients on work related issues and on finding work that better fits their personal interests and goals. In today’s challenging climate, this requires very practical considerations as well as creative ways to find outlets for one’s skills, talents and passions.
The work Robert does today with those he mentors as a Spiritual Director is a seamless integration of psychology and spirituality. For Robert, the deepest healing is always on the spiritual level, but the insights of psychology help us to understand in more detail exactly what needs healing. Recently, he published the book "Fifty Ways of Letting Go" which details how this integrative work is done.
