Chiedozie O. Ojimba, MD/MPH.

Dr. Ojimba is a board-certified psychiatrist in general adult and addiction psychiatry through the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN). He received his general adult psychiatry residency and addiction psychiatry fellowship training at Interfaith Medical Center, New York and Montefiore-Albert Einstein College of Medicine University Hospital, New York respectively. He attended the University of Wolverhampton in United Kingdom, where he earned his master’s in public health (MPH) degree.

Dr. Ojimba has over 18 years of clinical practice experience since his graduation from medical school. He had worked as an internal medicine and emergency room physician in United Kingdom for close to a decade prior to starting his psychiatry residency program in the USA. He also worked as public health specialist both in the United Kingdom and USA. He was the chief resident during his residency training and has mentored several medical students and residents in different specialties. He has published several peer-reviewed articles and case reports in psychiatry and addiction. Dr. Ojimba belongs to various professional organizations: American Medical Association (AMA), American Psychiatry Association (APA), American Academy of Addiction Psychiatry (AAP) and American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) and American Society of Clinical Psychopharmacology (ASCP). He is also an APA scholar. Dr. Ojimba is a University of Yale REACH (Recognizing and Eliminating Disparities in Addiction through Culturally informed Healthcare) scholar where he was trained in the skills of treating patients with mental illness and addictions in a culturally informed care.

He enjoys the synergy and interwoven connection between internal medicine, psychiatry, addiction, and public health and approaches therapeutic treatments of his patients from that lens of holistic perspective.

He utilizes in his practice evidence-based medicine, applying the most current neuroscience, clinical and research results to achieve the best possible outcome for his patients. He uses medication management, psychotherapy, motivational interviewing, and other interventional methods in treating his patients.

Dr. Ojimba understands that patients with mental illness and substance use problems are a vulnerable population who have struggled through the stigma of looking for help and must be heard and supported. He uses empathy and understanding in collaborating with patients and their families to achieve agreed treatment plans and goals. He specializes in treating individuals of all ages, races, genders, sexual orientations, and ethnicities for a wide range of mental health conditions and addiction including but not limited to depression, bipolar disorders, anxiety disorders, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), Post-Traumatic Stress Disorders (PTSD), eating disorders, alcohol, opioid, Tobacco, and other substance use related problem.
