Professional statement

Dr Fischbach leverages his training in Neuropsychiatry to apply brain-science principles to help individuals 18+ struggling with Depression, Anxiety, Bipolar Disorder, OCD and ADHD. He blends the rigor of Neuropsychiatry with the relational approach of a Psychoanalytically-Informed Therapist, drawing from his training in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy. He is motivated to give the personalized, warm care he would want a family member to receive. He is currently accepting new patients for integrated treatment (psychotherapy with or without medications).

Dr Fischbach takes a layered approach to psychiatric diagnosis. After diligently screening for traditional psychiatric symptoms, and prescribing medications judiciously to reduce symptom burden, he strives to look beneath the surface to identify areas where psychotherapeutic approaches may enhance an individual's quality of life in a targeted way. What happens next looks different for every client. One person may benefit from a focus on attachment styles in relationships. A client struggling with OCD symptoms may gain most from adopting an Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) approach. Yet another person may find balance from a focus on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). What unifies Dr Fischbach's different therapeutic techniques is his focus on treating every client not as a collection of symptoms or diagnoses, but as a mosaic of an individual, seeking a return to wholeness. In therapy, some individuals may benefit from visits every 2 weeks; others may gain most from traditional weekly treatment.

Dr Fischbach's treatment philosophy is influenced deeply by his mentors and colleagues at Brown University, Brown Medical School, Harvard Medical School/Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center/McLean Hospital, and by the Zen Buddhist Tradition.

Visits may be in-person or virtual, based on shared decision making. In-person appointments take place at 1180 Beacon Street in Brookline, MA.

Message to clients

After our initial visit(s), we can decide together whether we are a good clinical fit. Once we've decided to build a therapeutic relationship, I will take care to provide you with a personalized treatment map that details which approaches I recommend we take, how long I expect it might take for you to notice change in your life, what this change might look like, and how frequently I recommend we meet. This process is both collaborative and iterative.

Psychological growth is an investment, and I'm conscious of the financial cost and time commitment it can require. While there is often no 'quick cure' to psychological challenges, I feel it is my professional and ethical duty to help you as efficiently as possible.
