Professional statement

Annalise Oatman is a licensed clinical social worker and author in Los Angeles, California. She specializes in childhood and specific incident trauma, depression, and creative block, especially in female-identified writers and creators.

Annalise's practice, Deeper Well Therapy, offers integrative, intuitive, depth-informed therapy designed to provide healing at a deep level and lasting change, utilizing approaches such as EMDR therapy and Jungian-informed dreamwork.

Annalise recently became the bestselling author of her first book, Heal Your Witch Wound, about ways to overcome the unique challenges women face in living to their full creative and intuitive potential and stepping into their power. The book offers several somatic, depth-informed, journal-based and unabashedly magickal strategies for overcoming fear and expressing what we feel most deeply called to express in our lives.

Annalise completed an Oxbridge Masters in Philosophy at Trinity College Dublin in 2010 and graduated from USC's Masters in Social Work program in 2015 on the Dean's List, having one of her essays published as a chapter in an Oxford University Press textbook, Women's Journey to Empowerment in the 21st Century: A Transnational Feminist Analysis of Women's Lives in Modern Times. In 2019, she became trained in EMDR, currently considered the gold standard of trauma therapies, and she is currently in the midst of the lengthy process of preparing to train as a Jungian psychoanalyst, and has attended numerous trainings at the Jung Institute. She has been working closely with traumatized populations since 2013 in a variety of settings.

Message to clients

Life can be so brutal, and moments of transition, loss and transformation can be smattered by moments of such desolate loneliness. I know you're probably here because things feel hard right now, or life isn't looking the way you ever thought it would. Take a deep breath. These times of moving through the unknown can be really potent opportunities for deepening our intuition and our soul's ways of knowing. In other words, the bottom of the well is often the place where we can start to hear our deepest wisdom and feel our previously undreamt of strength.

Whether we ever end up working together or not, I want you to know that you are not alone. There is an alchemical gold that can be found in the underworld, and I trust that if you take one step forward on your healing journey, and then the next, you will find it.

I also know reaching out for help can feel completely vulnerable and overwhelming. I'm very humanist in my approach with everyone who ever reaches out to me for help which means . . . I'm just myself! So if you reach out for an Intro call, you'll find someone who is just another human being on the other line, not a chatbot or someone putting on airs. That's because the real human connection you form with your therapist is the true healing factor.

    Therapist's note

I strongly encourage you to call the member services number on the back of your insurance card to find out if you have out of network benefits. If you do, your plan might cover between 40-80% of your session fee, so you would end up paying only about $50-$100/session! I partner with an out of network therapy concierge makes it as easy as possible for you to only pay your copays and not even have to worry about mailing a "superbill" (a document I would provide) and then waiting for reimbursement. I'd be happy to explain how that works during our free Intro call!

I am not accepting CenCal insurance at this time.
