Professional statement

Dr. Christina Saltman is a Clinical Psychologist located in Brookline, MA. Dr. Saltman is passionate about providing women with the support they need throughout the lifespan. Many of Dr. Saltman’s clients seek therapy to help with a major transition, including starting a relationship, becoming a parent, growing a family, switching careers, or aging. Some of Dr. Saltman’s clients find themselves becoming overwhelmed by anxiety, depression, or stress from work, school or interpersonal relationships. Dr. Saltman helps all clients explore their emotions and develop ways to cope with any moments of distress.

Dr. Saltman uses a signature three-pronged approach to therapy that incorporates cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), psychodynamic therapy and existential therapy. Through CBT and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), you are encouraged to change patterns of thinking and behaviors to provide symptom reduction. Psychodynamic therapy's focus on attachment and relationship dynamics helps to improve and heal dysfunctional relationships. Finally, existential therapy allows you to increase self-direction and identify goals in order to achieve your maximum potential.

Dr. Saltman earned her PhD from California School of Professional Psychology at Alliant International University San Diego. She has extensive experience supporting individuals and families with their mental health. Her goal is to empower clients to take control over their mental health and to lead happy, healthy lives.

Message to clients

At work, you know you’re underpaid, yet still go above and beyond for employers and colleagues who don’t appreciate it. At home, you’re the one expected to manage things and keep up with chores, while your partner only contributes when they’re directly asked. If you have kids, you feel guilty about ever needing a break. Though you think you “should” be able to handle all of this, the cumulative exhaustion you feel from a lifetime of taking on more than you have time or energy for is starting to show. Let me assure you that not only is it okay to admit you’re having a tough time—it’s the first step in actually feeling better.

I specialize in working with adults who are struggling with anxiety, work-life balance, relationships, and parenting. I’m not the type of therapist who’s going to just stare blankly back at you. Together, we can figure out what direction you want to go and collaborate to take one small step at a time toward that goal. And I know we can get there in the end.

It’s hard to ask for help. I know you’re hoping that I’ll have a magic wand that will help you continue overextending yourself without losing it. I wish I did, but I don’t. What I do have is excellent listening skills, a decent sense of humor, and the ability to support you through whatever challenges you’re facing and help you grow in a positive direction.
