Professional statement

Courtney Lombard is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker based in Los Angeles. She works with children, teenagers, young adults, and families and is committed to creating a safe and non-judgmental environment where clients can explore their thoughts, feelings, and experiences. While Courtney specializes in trauma treatment, she has extensive experience working with clients who report anxiety, depression, mood swings, behavioral concerns, obsessive thoughts, compulsive behaviors, low self-esteem, and executive functioning difficulties.

Courtney operates from a strength-based and neurodiverse-affirming perspective and tailors her approach to address the unique needs of each client. She helps her clients find coping strategies that work for them as they navigate life transitions or work through challenges at school and at home. Courtney utilizes evidence-based interventions, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). She is certified in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), which is widely considered the "gold standard" approach for treating post-traumatic stress in children and adolescents. As a Registered Play Therapist, Courtney believes in the transformative nature of play as a medium for communication and self-discovery. By integrating play-based interventions, Courtney aims to empower young clients as they overcome obstacles, build healthy relationships, and develop essential life skills.

Courtney earned a Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Chicago. She has ten years of experience in the mental health field and works closely with parents and caregivers to integrate mental health practices into family routines.

Courtney is currently accepting new clients for in-person and telehealth services and has immediate openings for after-school hours. She is able to meet with clients who reside in California or Florida.

Message to clients

Resiliency describes a person's ability to survive, and even thrive, in the face of extraordinary challenges and adversities. I believe that each client, no matter their age or the challenges they face, exhibits a great deal of resiliency before ever beginning therapy. My approach focuses on harnessing each client's unique strengths to help them accomplish the positive, lasting changes they most desire.

Whether you are a parent seeking therapy for your child/teen or a young person looking for extra support on your own journey, let's work together to build upon what you've already started and get you to where you'd like to be.
