Dorothy L Ingram is a LPC in Uniontown. She works with Individuals and couples, between the ages of 13 and 99 yrs old. Many of Dorothy’s clients come in to address trauma, chronic pain, addiction, grief/loss, and existential life transitions. Dorothy is particularly passionate about serving women's issues, members of the LGBTQIA community, POC and ethnic minorities, addiction, trauma, chronic pain, couples, and anyone seeking change and a better quality of life. She has advanced training in the area of PTSD, substance abuse/dependency, depression, anxiety, chronic pain, and adjustment disorders.
Dorothy is EMDR certified, an EMDR Consultant in Training, and trained in the Flash method, CBT, and Mindfulness. We start with the development of a therapeutic relationship in which a person can feel safe to confidently identify the barriers to the quality of life that they wish for themselves. We then create a plan to make the changes beneficial to achieve those goals. In session, Dorothy focuses on a variety of mindfulness techniques, employing breathing, tapping, guided visualization, grounding, body movement, and journaling. This approach supports clients to release emotional, communication and behavior patterns that no longer serve them and create new, more fulfilling patterns for their lives.
Dorothy's style is non-judgmental, partnering, and thoughtful. When clients first start therapy, we work to understand a client's values, beliefs, priorities, history, and communication style so we can develop a plan to achieve their goals.
Dorothy received their MS in Community and Agency Counseling from California University of Pennsylvania. She has worked at AMS, where she worked as a substance abuse/dependency counselor which sparked a neuropsychology focus to therapy. Outside of private practice, she loves gardening, reading and social activism. The office is located on the 2nd floor and telehealth is also available.
