Professional statement

Emily has over 22 years of training and experience in providing expressive, somatic, mindfulness-based, trauma informed therapies. She utilizes an integrative and holistic approach, tailoring therapy to meet each client's unique therapeutic needs. She is passionate about helping women heal from disturbing life experiences, including sexual abuse, addiction, and traumatic stress.

In her work with sexual abuse survivors and/or survivors of severe physical and emotional trauma in childhood, as well as with those who are recovering from addiction, she found that integrating EMDR therapy with IFS (Internal Family Systems), attachment work, and structural dissociation education offers profound relief for trauma symptoms and helps survivors rebuild inner strength, self-compassion, and a renewed faith in self, others, and life.

Other areas of specialization include grief and complex grief, ADHD, anxiety, depression, anger management, effects of family alcohol/drug abuse, codependency, performance anxiety, life transitions, chronic pain, body image, and self-esteem. She is dedicated to supporting you in developing lasting tools to cope, grow, and thrive.

As a Dance Movement Therapist and holistic movement practitioner, Emily draws on ancient healing techniques such as mudra and breath work combined with chakra movement to deepen the mind body spirit connection. She offers experiences in forest bathing, mindful walking, authentic movement, and expressive movement, art, music and poetry to help you feel the benefits of the creative and spiritual dimensions of healing in an embodied way. She is honored to support you on your path to inner transformation, personal growth, and self-actualization.

She offers telehealth therapy so that you can experience therapy in the privacy, comfort and convenience of your own home. She also offers in person experiential therapies on an individualized and/or seasonal basis- such as Forest Bathing sessions, Dance Movement Therapy, Mindfulness breathwork and somatic relaxation, as well as EMDR/IFS intensives.

Message to clients

Are you seeking relief from past pain and needing support to find the courage and positive energy needed to recharge your life? Trauma experiences can overwhelm the mind and body, causing intense symptoms of depression, rage, anxiety, grief, addiction, and other distressing symptoms. I offer a warm and safe space for you to unpack your burdens, and experience genuine and lasting relief. Drawing from my combined training and long term experience in trauma therapy, expressive movement therapy, and mindfulness, I will guide you in developing practical tools to transform and heal the immobilizing and haunting effects of trauma, PTSD and chronic stress so that you can move forward.

Movement therapy helps us to access and mobilize life affirming energy which in turn relieves stress, uplifts mood, and supports agency. IFS and EMDR therapy provide insight filled pathways ( backed by neuroscience research) to release stuck trauma responses so that we can move forward with strength and freedom rather than fear. Mindfulness helps us develop a peaceful relationship with all our emotions so that we can create sustainable positive change in our lives.

It takes courage to heal. If you place your trust in me, we will work together to help you develop the inner tools and resources to transform the pain and suffering of your past into wisdom and empowerment and peace. We will work together to help you find your treasure in the present moment - to experience the magic, beauty and wonder of who you really are.
