Professional statement

Jody serves hard workers looking for answers and a plan. She especially connects with young adults who are goal oriented but feeling stuck and confused. Her clients are go-getters and they feel like everyone is counting on them to make the right decisions. They are often worried that failure is right around the corner. They appear to be balancing an overly full plate but lose track of their own needs. They want so badly to be seen as competent and make As at school and in life. They can see success just out of reach and they are hoping that with the right help, they will get there.

Of course, therapy often looks like talking about problems, but over time you will notice your progress. Maybe the feeling of panic is gone. Maybe you have closer relationships. Maybe you feel confident enough to speak up when it matters. Maybe you can walk through your days not questioning your every move.

Sessions with Jody will hopefully feel like a break from the business of life. You will meet with her online, and each week she will hold the space to check in with yourself and your needs. We will work on observing your life with curiosity and compassion, not judgement and shame. Jody is deeply committed to helping each person lower their daily stress level so they stop feeling like there is never enough time.

Jody is located in Tennessee, just outside Nashville but can serve clients all over the state. She is a lifelong Tennessean and earned a Master’s degree in Social Work from UT in Knoxville. She has over 20 years of experience, is familiar with the expectations and stress of college, and is an expert in helping young adults with their anxiety.

Message to clients

Hey there! I’m Jody.

Starting with a new therapist can feel daunting. My goal is for you to feel some relief just from taking that step. In many ways, therapy is a leap. You wish you knew ahead of time that it is going to be worth it and how long it will take to feel better. The expense, the time, the emotions - it is all too much to have been a waste. My take on therapy is that nothing is wasted. We can work together for a little while or a long time, either will be good for you. We can always find a way for your investment to be beneficial. I am intentional with our time together so you can get what you need. And if you have trouble knowing what you need or asking for what you need, we will work on that too!

If this helps you feel like making the leap is worth it, reach out and contact me!
