Professional statement

Kathleen Keogh is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist located in Pasadena, CA. Kathleen is passionate about supporting individuals through life’s ups and down. She recognizes that life is challenging for everyone at various times, and strives to provide affirming, compassionate therapy services for those facing depression, anxiety, PTSD, relationship conflicts, grief, and overwhelming stress. Kathleen enjoys working with LGBTQ folks and artists.

Kathleen is a somatic therapist, which means that much of her work in therapy sessions focuses on the mind-body connection. She believes that stress manifests in tension in the body, whether it’s causing pain, stiffness, or fatigue. Kathleen works with clients to release this tension both emotionally and physically, leaving them feeling relaxed and balanced. She also incorporates elements of psychodynamic therapy into her offering, prompting clients to look internally at their beliefs, desires, and needs. Clients explore who they are and why they are that way, gaining a deeper sense of self that they can bring with them into conversations with their partners, their family members, their colleagues, and more.

Kathleen earned a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from the California Institute of Integral Studies. She has over 20 years of experience working with clients in the community mental health field. Additionally, she has over 20 years of experience in dance and performance, often engaging in and at times teaching movement improvisation or facilitating Authentic Movement. She is dedicated to social justice and advocacy, often encouraging clients to examine the systems of power that show up in their daily lives and how those systems impact their wellbeing.

Message to clients

Life is hard, even when it's going well.

And then there are the times that it isn't going well, and we need to expand our network of care. Therapy is a helpful process in both times of life. I work to connect with you, follow your needs, support you in the growth and transformation you crave, and help you through the discomfort that change can bring. I believe in the closeness of dualities, such as trauma and resilience, crying and laughing, masculine and feminine, and seeking ways to get these dualities into better communication and a more symbiotic relationship with one another.

I am trained in Somatic Psychotherapy, and I have special expertise in working with artists, trauma, LGBTQIA+ community and allies, social justice, anxiety and mood disorders, psychosis, and the human condition. I have worked in Community Mental Healthcare since 2000. Social Justice and Anti-Oppression work is vital to the work I do, and how I engage with people in therapy, and in the world
