Professional statement

Dr. Lauren Woolley is a psychologist located in San Diego, CA. Dr. Woolley provides support to individuals who feel overwhelmed by the amount of stress in their lives. Many of Dr. Woolley’s clients are fatigued women who are trying to be the perfect partner, mother, employee, and still find time for themselves. This fatigue may manifest in feeling anxious, panicked, disconnected, or depressed. Dr. Woolley works with individuals by finding ways to decrease the stress load and feel more peaceful in their daily lives. Dr. Woolley offers both in person and video sessions. Her office is located in the convenient heart of Old Town with plenty of free parking and easy access to the transit center.

Dr. Woolley’s approach includes Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT), therapy styles which help clients develop skills to deal with painful thoughts and feelings effectively, clarify what is truly important to them, and take steps towards a rich and meaningful life. Dr. Woolley helps clients identify their coping skills and teaches additional ways to practice relaxation. She also utilizes elements of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) in her sessions, which emphasizes the importance of thought’s role in mood and actions.

Dr. Woolley earned her doctorate in Counseling Psychology from Texas Woman’s University. Her dedication to acceptance and creating a safe environment for clients promotes vulnerability, which helps drive clients towards their mental health goals.

Message to clients

I know it can feel vulnerable to reach out to a psychologist. I am so glad you took this step towards caring for yourself. At some point in our lives, we all need support to get through a challenging time. My goal is to learn what matters to you and help you move towards it.

Therapy is a bit like rafting. I will get in the boat with you, but I need you to paddle too. Therapy is most effective when we are equally invested in moving towards your goal (and we can find some grace and humor along the way!) I focus on helping you find effective tools to address obstacles and gain clarity when you get stuck. My hope is to help you navigate challenges, change unhelpful patterns and move towards peace in your life. You don't have to do this alone.

Please contact me to learn if we might be a good fit. I look forward to connecting with you!
