Professional statement

Lynne Byrne is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Connecticut and Maine and holds masters degrees in both Psychological Counseling and Mental Health Counseling from Teachers College, Columbia University.

She partners with clients aged 18 yr + seeking support for depression, anxiety, stress, trauma experiences, IBS, body-focused repetitive behaviors, OCD, chronic pain, workplace issues, phobias, grief, relationship/family conflict, LGBTQIA+ issues, substance use, habits, procrastination, self-esteem issues, co dependency and more.

At Columbia Lynne was trained in multicultural counseling which understands how our experiences are shaped by our unique identities (race, culture, ethnicity, SES, family structure, ability, sexual orientation, gender identity, etc.) and impact our mental health. Lynne is also a certified TEAM CBT Therapist, Level 3.

The structured approach Lynne embraces is borne out of the T.E.A.M. CBT framework created by Dr David Burns at Stanford University. Within this framework Lynne integrates key aspects of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Positive Psychology, Narrative Therapy, Mindfulness Practice, and more.

Lynne sees clients virtually over Zoom which provides a convenient, private way of accessing mental health care and offers clinical outcomes that are believed to be as powerful and effective as traditional in-person therapy, according to recent research.

Message to clients

Creating a fulfilling and meaningful life in which we feel a sense of well being, purpose and connection to others often goes hand in hand with facing our challenges. If you are struggling and want to be thriving, compassionate, results-driven therapy is within reach.

As your therapist I am committed to creating a collaborative partnership based on compassion, trust and mutual respect and delivering evidenced based psychotherapy that helps you reach your goals. I specialize in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) which are well-researched and results-driven approaches to help you overcome your anxiety, depression, relationship problems, habits and more.

In our work together, I aim to provide a safe space for you to reflect and be heard, gain insight into the origins of your challenges and learn practical skills to overcome them and thrive. I also believe deeply in the mental health benefits of exercise, nutrition, mindfulness meditation, journaling and seeking out sources of passion and joy in one’s life.

Courage involves vulnerability and I applaud you for taking this first step on the path towards thriving. It would be my privilege to move forward together with you in this work.
