Professional statement

Dr. George is a licensed clinical psychologist who provides online psychotherapy to clients in 39 states through her PsyPACT tele-provider certification, see the list below. Her clients are people who are looking for a sense of meaning and purpose in their lives. She specializes in treating those who struggle with perfectionism, burnout, and over-achievement. Dr. George knows that painful past experiences can manifest as overworking, depression, anxiety, PTSD, or simply feeling exhausted and numb. She truly loves to help clients find a sense of freedom, peace, playfulness and adventure.

Dr. George uses trauma informed evidence-based therapy to help clients heal. She helps clients become aware of how their past experiences shape self-esteem, relationships, and beliefs about the world. Clients leave her sessions with real-world skills that help them meet their goals. Dr. George is thoroughly trained in cognitive behavioral therapy, cognitive processing therapy, prolonged exposure therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy and mindfulness-based skills.

Dr. George has a warm, authentic and “salt of the earth” approach. She sees clients as the experts of their own experience and enjoys working as a team. Her clients often report that she sees things other providers have missed. It is quite common for her to hear “I have been to therapy before but this time I’m actually getting to the root of the problem.” She is down to earth, practical, a lover of humor, and above all she is transparent. On a personal note, Dr. George loves huskies, Halloween, light roast coffee, adventure vacations, and fantasy books. If you attend her sessions she will focus on making sure her clients see large and lasting changes as quickly as possible. She looks forward to joining you on your journey.

Message to clients

While writing this section I asked myself “what would I need to hear if I were about to enter therapy?” After a great deal of thought, here is what came to mind.

First, it does get better. And yes, before you ask, better IS possible. If you find yourself thinking “this cannot possibly be it,” or “why do I keep spinning me wheels?” then please reach out. I really can help.

Second, I would need to hear that everyone needs assistance sometimes. I have my doctorate in clinical psychology and I often make mistakes, need help, or need an extra brain to process problems with. Yes, I have expert training but I'm also a person who will treat you like a person. I believe that people seeking care are strong, resilient, crafty and are having normal reactions to their world. I am constantly awed by their stories. So please understand that seeking treatment is not a weakness - it is effective, plain and simple.

Third - I am a safe person. It can be difficult to find a provider that you feel comfortable with, but I feel confident in my skills to create a warm environment. While I hope you believe my words, I encourage you to watch my behaviors - I will strive every session to earn your trust.

Therapist's note

Hello! I am writing to let you know that I am cash pay out of network provider. I want to work for YOU not an insurance company. This has huge advantages for my clients and allows for elite and tailored care. Please read on to learn more about how this choice benefits you.

Being cash pay increases privacy for my clients AND there are no hidden fees. Your premiums will not unexpectedly go up with certain diagnosis or treatments since I do not submit claims. Between deductibles, co-pays, premium increases, and claims denials my services end up being the same price or less but without the hassle. Secondly, I do not want to give you a diagnosis just to satisfy insurance. I am protective of my clients. I do not want to label them with exaggerated disorders just to get reimbursed. Third, this allows me to keep my caseload small - I have no waitlist, improved responsiveness, availability, and time for research and treatment planning for your needs.
