Professional statement

Rachel Williamson is a Licensed Professional Counselor located in St. Louis, MO. Rachel works with Individuals 13 and older and specializes in treating anxiety, depression, substance use, and PTSD. She provides both in person and virtual sessions.

Rachel has a flexible approach to therapy as she understands that each person may need something a little different. Rachel practices Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), to help clients differentiate between negative self-talk and positive thinking patterns. By changing how they think, clients can avoid harsh emotional reactions or self-judgments, which can boost their self-esteem and help build motivation

Rachel earned a Master’s of Science degree in Counseling Psychology from Avila University. She strives to create a safe and inclusive space in her practice so all clients can feel comfortable in therapy and in their conversations. Clients feel supported as they take the next step in their lives, making decisions to improve their well-being.

Message to clients

My therapeutic approach is focused on each individual. I believe that every person has the potential for personal growth and the ability to make positive changes in their lives. Through my experience as a therapist, I have realized that some individuals may require assistance in this process. Being a person-centered therapist means recognizing that each person who seeks my help has unique set needs. To cater to these needs, I have received training in diverse therapeutic modalities such as Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Motivational Interviewing.

When you visit my office (or attend a session online), you can feel comfortable and be yourself. I strive to create a safe and supportive environment where you can let go of any pretense and openly share your true feelings. However, I understand that building this level of trust takes time and effort. Therefore, my initial objective is to help you feel secure and supported so that expressing yourself becomes easier.

My therapeutic approach is aimed to assist you in determining the goals you wish to achieve, reducing any symptoms you may be experiencing, and acquiring new skills to improve coping. I will provide education, guidance, and the support necessary for you to accomplish these objectives.
