Professional statement

Stephanie Crossman is a registered Art Therapist and Licensed Mental Health Counselor who is currently working with individuals virtually in the state of Florida. Stephanie uses a humanistic approach, seeing the good and potential in all people, to work alongside clients as they are on their healing journey in a judgement free space. Stephanie uses experiences gained in various settings and in individual settings. Stephanie has worked in various settings such as inpatient hospitals, substance abuse clinics, and most recently Stephanie worked in a residential treatment center for three and a half years specializing in both mental health and substance abuse. Stephanie was promoted to lead therapist in October 2020, and Clinical Director in January 2022.

Stephanie is passionate about getting to the "root" of the issue with the goal of truly healing and being able to move forward in life and face challenges. This goal is achieved in sessions by utilizing traditional talk therapy, art and expressive therapy, and Traumatic Incident Reduction to achieve individualized goals. Traumatic Incident Reduction sessions focus on one memory per session, and the client will experience relief to of symptoms by the end of the session.

Stephanie currently has transitioned to full time private practice, and has openings for virtual sessions during the day as well as a few evening slots. Stephanie believes that virtual sessions allow the client to prioritize their mental health and overall wellbeing, without having to deal with the extra barriers that may come with going to therapy (driving to appointments, childcare, work), and impact ones ability to commit to bettering themselves.

Message to clients

Take a moment to give yourself credit for seeking out more information in regards to finding a counselor, many people do not get this far and it is easy to find excuses as to why the timing is wrong. Engaging in virtual sessions allows flexibility to your schedules so going to therapy doesn't feel like another task that you are trying to find time for.

Finding the right therapist can be challenging, and it is important to find someone that you feel as if you connect with to get the most out of therapy. I believe in a personalized collaborative therapeutic relationship, and will often ask you what your goals are and what it is that you are wanting to focus on week to week as I am here to guide you through life's challenges.
