Professional statement

As a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW), Tamara Kesselman believes her role as a therapist is to create a safe, judgment-free environment, where clients feel validated and secure in working through their challenges. She enjoys working with couples and individuals of all ages and has particular expertise in the field of Blended Families.

Experiencing sadness, anxiety, interpersonal conflict, or are simply feeling ‘stuck’, are common in life and there is no need to suffer alone. Working together with Tamara, you will explore real change and begin your therapeutic journey.

As both seasoned therapist and mother of a large Blended Family herself, Tamara developed her own therapeutic approach aimed at meeting the needs of all members of Blended Families. Her goal is to help others navigate the complexities, nuances, and challenges specific to Family Blending, issues such as space sharing, discipline, sibling rivalry, isolation, house rules, family events, finances, and countless other challenges.

Her practice utilizes an integrative approach combining different therapeutic tools to fit the needs of the individual client or couple. Among these approaches are Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Solution- Focused Therapy, and Strength-Based Therapy. Tamara employs mindfulness practices and helps clients develop concrete skills for attainable, positive change and self-healing.

Message to clients

It is common to struggle.

Everyone struggles at various points in their lives. This does not mean that struggling has to become your normal state of being. You are right to get help. Therapy can be an incredibly powerful tool to help you, individually or as a couple. Newly learned communication skills can increase resilience, cultivate personal strengths, and help you tackle challenges head-on. Sometimes, even a few small, practical changes can create real, meaningful change in your life.

Therapy doesn’t need to be intimidating, in fact, it can be very warm, heartfelt, honest, even funny. My personal mission is for you to feel increasingly resilient, content, and empowered in your life. With warmth, humor, and humility, I invite you to contact me. Together, we will help you develop new skills to navigate and heal from the rough waters.
