Professional statement

Wendy Pinder is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor located in Dansville, NY. Wendy works with clients of all ages, from childhood to older adulthood. She helps those who struggle with anxiety that leaves them emotionally and physically exhausted, as well as those whose substance use leaves them with broken relationships and feelings of frustration, disappointment, and hopelessness. Wendy also works with individuals who have chronic illnesses that result in chronic pain or discomfort. Many of Wendy’s clients have trauma backgrounds, which often impact their current wellbeing.

Wendy teaches clients effective coping strategies to use when they’re feeling distressed. She recognizes that coping looks differently for everyone, and works with her clients to find the right coping strategies for them. Clients learn how to avoid self-criticism or self-destructive thoughts, which can alleviate the symptoms of depression or anxiety. They also learn how to become more self-aware, focusing their attention through mindfulness exercises. Wendy uses a therapy modality called hypnotherapy, which can tap into the mind and assist in changing certain behaviors. Clients benefit from Wendy’s empathy and genuine interest in her clients’ wellbeing, as well as her expertise in positive psychology.

Wendy has certification in trauma work, meaning that she creates safe, secure environments for clients to talk openly about their feelings without feeling pressured to share too many details. She has over 15 years of experience, and opens her practice to clients of all identities and backgrounds. She strives to empower clients to recognize their resilience and to use this resilience to overcome their mental health challenges.

Message to clients

Hello and Welcome!

I know that sometimes life can be complicated and difficult. You try to push through the thoughts, the exhaustion, the fear, and the anxiety. Perhaps you have tried to talk to friends or family but don't get any relief. This is where I can help. I'm here to support your journey with empathy and compassion. When you work with me you and I become a team identifying your strengths, recognizing and overcoming negative patterns, and getting you back on track for the life you desire.

Some of my clients simply need guidance overcoming temporary situations. Many struggle with anxiety, depression, guilt, shame, and physical illness due to underlying trauma. Working with me is like having a wise and compassionate friend. My office, whether virtual or in-person, is always a safe and non-judgmental space.

I am a creative, out-of-the-box person. I use many different treatment modalities geared to whatever each person needs. I enjoy working with people of all ages, races, cultures, lifestyles, identities, and belief systems.

I look forward to meeting you!
