Professional statement

Will is a Licensed Professional Counselor who enjoys working with teens, young adults and adults. Will is currently seeing clients remotely in both Oregon and Wisconsin. Will is LGBTQ+ affirming and his intention is to hold a safe, nonjudgmental space while meeting his clients where they're at. Will's approach to healing is trauma-informed, relational-based and mindful. While using compassionate inquiry, Will draws from somatic exercises, parts-work, and interpersonal processing to help investigate and nurture client needs. Will believes life can be stressful, scary, and overwhelming and hopes to help clients move from surviving to thriving.

Will's clients might experience: addiction, panic, worry, feeling on edge, social anxiety, mistrust, codependency, perfectionism, depression, impulsivity, interpersonal conflict, avoidance, attachment wounds, people pleasing, shame, trauma, loneliness, trouble relaxing, life adjustments, limiting core beliefs, mood swings. His client's needs might include: attunement, decreasing stress, learning to ground with awareness, building insight, coping and communication skills.

It seems we often desire a sense of secure connection while also living in line with our authentic self. Will believes attunement and compassionate inquiry can help heal suffering. We can't change what happened, but we can change our perspective and meaning we give our experience. Will's clients often increase awareness, develop a healthy sense of self, and expand their ability to tolerate distress, witnessing parts of oneself with curiosity, courage and clarity...learning to navigate life through the present moment.

Message to clients

I'll meet you through the lens of authenticity and I want to create a safe space for honesty and self-reflection. While emphasizing co-regulation, I sometimes use a flexible Internal Working Model framework to identify and better understand messages about the self and others; recognizing responses/patterns in the here and now and exploring and disarming limiting beliefs/expectations, helping to change one's relationship with themselves and their environment.

I might ask: How do you know when you feel safe and supported? What feels unacceptable? Where does your pain lie? What part of you is showing up right now? What do you notice? What are your unmet needs or do you perhaps have conflicting needs? What happens when you lengthen your exhale and soften your gaze? What are you afraid to say or do? How are you currently living in line with your values? What do you want to believe about yourself? What matters for you?

I hope for you to feel whole. To tap into the parts of you that are calm, confident and connected and allow for old protective mechanisms that no longer serve you to step back. I hope you see this difficulty that might be bringing you into counseling as an opportunity to build wisdom and to live in line with the best version of yourself. What's bringing you into counseling? If therapy were to be successful for you, what might that look like? Message me to schedule and/or set up a free 15 minute consultation call.
