Dr. Veeramasuneni has worked in a variety of settings from community mental health, child welfare, crisis intervention, adolescent probation/parole and victim advocacy. She is a trained medical and legal sexual assault advocate as well as a trained domestic violence counselor. She completed her pre-doctoral psychology internship at the Cambridge Health Alliance, where she was a Fellow with the Harvard Medical School, in a dual training program in Asian Mental Health and Child Psychotherapy.

Dr. V’s academic interests include: psychoanalysis, post-colonial critical theory, interdisciplinary theory construction and multiculturalism. She is an instructor at the Chicago School of Professional Psychology and has taught the following courses: Diversity in Clinical Practice, Basic Intervention: Psychoanalytic, Lifespan Development and Cognitive-Affective Basis of Behavior. She is focused on teaching students critical thinking skills and helping them to become reflective, ethical clinicians. She has presented at conferences on post-colonial theory, psychoanalysis, teaching diversity and multicultural issues.

Dr. V is an interactive, contemporary-relational therapist. Her therapeutic approach is aimed at providing support and practical feedback to help clients effectively address personal life challenges. She integrates complementary methodologies and techniques to offer a highly personalized approach that is tailored to each client. Her clinical specialties include: depression, trauma, anxiety, life transitions, women’s issues, bi-cultural identity and psychodynamic/insight oriented psychotherapy. In private practice, she has specialized in working with women and men who are struggling with difficult transitions related to interpersonal relationships, parenthood, conception/fertility issues, balancing work/life, maintaining meaningful connections to friends and family, work performance and family of origin issues. She has significant experience with professionals, both men and women, who are overwhelmed by demanding careers.
