Professional statement

Charles is a marriage and family therapist currently residing in Iowa, and providing telehealth services to residents of Illinois, Iowa, and Utah. Charles works predominantly with adults, young adults, and late teens in navigating the journey towards a strong sense of self.

Charles has an eclectic history to draw upon in the hopes of helping his clients (you) on their journey. Charles does draw strongly from Cognitive Behavior Therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy, when it comes to resources and tools.

Charles has worked with individuals in and near crisis in a hospital setting since obtaining their licensure. He has been providing in person and telehealth services for individuals and couples since obtaining independent licensure in 2019. He currently provides telehealth services exclusively, with the caveat that he joined a therapy group, Compassion Counseling, in Bettendorf, IA, and as part of the contract he is required to direct any prospective clients local to this area to schedule through Compassion Counseling for in person therapy.

Charles works Monday-Thursday from 9-7 with Compassion Counseling and Friday from 9-5 in his private practice. He works some Saturdays, by appointment only.

Stop Feeling Like A NPC In Your Own Life. Too many geeks struggle with anxiety in relationships and in social situations. This often leaves them feeling disconnected from friends, family, and life, and feeling like nobody can understand them. Hi, I’m Charles King, I’m a geeky therapist who loves to help fellow geeks build deeper connections and feel understood. I believe you shouldn’t have to hide your passion for Dungeons and Dragons, tabletop games, Star Trek (even though Star Wars is better, imo), or whatever you geek out about, in order to feel comfortable in social settings and in relationships.

I understand what you are going through. I’m a Game/Dungeon Master who has been the one who saw himself as a social outcast or socially on the fringe. It took me a fair bit of time to figure out my path. Now, I have helped over 50 geeks just like you become more connected with others, and more confident in being themselves, no matter the social setting.

You don’t have to keep feeling like you have to decide between hiding your true self to fit in, or feeling isolated and alone. I can help guide you in your quest to overcome this feeling of being misunderstood, and instead become more passionate about your life, and more successful and connected in your relationships. To get started, contact me today.
