Practice Information

At SCS, we aim to create and hold safe spaces for people to process and work on patterns of thoughts, feelings, and behaviors that are no longer serving them. We are all trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and use techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy to help create change in a meaningful timeline. All of our clinicians have experience in the acute mental health hospital setting, whether it be inpatient services or intensive outpatient services, and we bring this understanding of the severity of some mental health conditions to our less acute private practice.

There are three clinicians at SCS - Jonah Shuman, MA, LPC, CDBT; Chavone Crespo, MS, LMHC, LPC, CDBT, ACS; and Emily Nikoley, MA, LPCC. Each of us brings a unique style to therapy, but our values around the therapeutic experience are largely the same. We believe in and support the idea that people, no matter their symptoms and stories, are worth investing in and building up to thrive in the kind of life they want.

FAQS

What services does your practice offer?

SCS provides individual and group services primarily, and we see the occasional Couples or Family therapy clients as well. We have a broad network of professional relationships in the Denver Metro and can assist with providing referrals to other services as needed (such as medication management, higher levels of care, etc.).

What are your practice's specialties?

The therapists at SCS have a variety of specialties, including anxiety, depression, trauma, personality disorders, LGBTQ+ experiences, and racial and multicultural experiences. We work with adults from age 18 and up.

Why should I choose your practice?

Somatic Counseling Services is a group of clinicians who believe that anyone can do the work needed to live their fullest life with just a little bit of help. Choosing one of our therapists ensures you will have someone in your corner, who is ready to provide care, support, and the occasional push as needed. Additionally, we are committed to continually growing their skills and experience to serve a broad range of clients - we seek regular training and consultation with providers in other specialties to make sure we provide the best care possible.

How does payment work at your practice?

We are in-network with most major insurance companies. If you do not have one of the insurances, our fees range from $175 - $225, depending on provider and services. Per request, we can provide superbills for reimbursement, and we can negotiate sliding scales as assessed on a case-by-case basis.
