Professional statement

Maya Kunofsky is a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner in Midtown Manhattan. She provides medication management for individuals with anxiety, depression, ADHD, and bipolar disorder. The majority of her clients are working professionals and college/graduate students. Most of her clients receive talk therapy through another provider. She can provide referrals for therapists if needed.

Maya starts with an evaluation to better understand both the client’s current complaint and symptom history, as well as medical history, substance use, and other relevant factors. She then presents a diagnosis and treatment options including medication if indicated, an explanation for why a particular medication is being prescribed, potential side effects, and potential benefits and risks. If medication is prescribed, she then conducts regular follow-up appointments to understand her clients’ response to the medication and to make adjustments when needed.

Maya earned both her Master's (MSN) and Bachelor's (BSN) degrees in Nursing at Columbia University. She has experience working with clients in hospital, clinic and private practice settings. She has also worked in the community throughout New York City in day programs, supportive housing, substance abuse programs, and correctional facilities.
