Dr. Kristel Carrington is a Board-Certified Adult Psychiatrist in Manhattan who specializes in treating problems such as depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, spectrum illness, OCD, psychosis, relationship challenges, personality concerns, and addiction. A majority of her clients are in their 20s and 30s and are navigating challenges surrounding their careers and identity. Dr. Carrington helps them determine who they truly are and what they want out of life.
Dr. Carrington offers both medication management and psychotherapy, depending on the client’s needs and goals. She utilizes an eclectic treatment approach that includes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness practice, and Psychodynamic principles. She also has training in Exposure Response Prevention Therapy (ERP), which has been proven an effective treatment for individuals with OCD. When working with clients who are experiencing anxiety, Dr. Carrington spends time educating them on what anxiety is and how it affects different individuals.
Dr. Carrington completed her adult psychiatry training at NYU Medical Center, Bellevue Hospital, and the Manhattan Veterans Affairs Hospital. She obtained an MD from the Yale School of Medicine and an undergraduate degree in Neuroscience from Columbia University.
