She/Her/Hers
Licensed Mental Health Counselor, LMHCShe/Her/Hers
Licensed Mental Health Counselor, LMHCAkshita Desore is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor who offers Tele-therapy. She works with individuals across the lifespan with a focus on young adults. Most of her work involves working with clients facing life transitions, anxiety, grief/loss, and self-doubt. Akshita is particularly passionate about serving students, working professionals, and immigrants.
Akshita’s approach is rooted in Expressive Arts Therapy, the use of arts to reconnect with our creativity and use our intuition and imagination. She works closely with clients to explore ways to become more present, accept and navigate emotions and develop meaningful relationships with oneself and others. Together she supports clients in finding solutions, learning coping skills and setting concrete, realistic goals.
This approach supports clients to feel calmer and more grounded, reconnect to their intuitive and creative selves, recognize, and reframe negative self-beliefs and navigate life transitions with patience, wisdom, and hope.
Akshita's style is engaging, non-judgmental and thoughtful. When clients first start therapy, she aims to establish a warm, safe, and grounding environment where clients feel heard and encouraged.
Akshita received her MA. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Expressive Arts Therapy from Lesley University. Besides Expressive arts, she is trained in Dialectic Behavior Therapy and Solution Focused Brief therapy. She has worked at Community mental health clinics serving children, teens, and adults and at The Children's Room, a grief and bereavement center for children, teens, and families. Outside of private practice, she enjoys yoga, reading books and baking. As a Telehealth provider, she offers online therapy over zoom during mornings, afternoons and also on Saturdays.
