Professional statement

Alana is a licensed clinical social worker who works with clients to deepen insights into themselves and their behaviors in order to create better relationships and life outcomes. Alana works with patients managing a wide variety of mental health disorders and specializes in trauma and personality disorders.

Alana approaches therapy dynamically, helping patients to gain insight into maladaptive patterns that had been causing suffering. She utilizes a variety of therapeutic techniques, including animal-assisted interventions with her canine partner, Eir.

Alana has worked in the mental health field for over a decade. In addition to her years as a therapist, Alana has worked in hospital inpatient units and provided support to individuals in their homes. Alana has also worked with equine-assisted psychotherapy programs as both a mental health provider and a horse expert.

Alana will be accepting new intakes beginning 6/13/22. She offers in-person therapy at the Towson location from 8 am to 3 pm Tuesday-Thursday and offers virtual therapy Monday from 12 pm to 7 pm and Thursday from 5 pm to 8 pm.

Message to clients

Finding a therapist who understands your needs and matches your personality style can be a challenge. I strive to provide a warm and supportive atmosphere for patients to process their difficulties and move forward into a more fulfilling and empowered life.

With the help of my canine partner, Eir, I work to provide you with a judgment-free zone where you can feel safe and accepted. Too often I hear from patients about past therapy experiences where their experiences were dismissed, where they felt their diagnosis was stigmatized, where they were misgendered or not addressed with the name and pronouns of their choice, or where they felt judged for non-traditional relationships. I want our space to be one in which you feel like no area of life is off-limits to talk about.
