Alicia is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), who received her Master of Arts in Student Affairs and Higher Education from Montclair State University. To supplement her interest in mental sport performance training and her own athletic pursuits as a runner, she obtained a certificate in sport and exercise psychology from Seton Hall University. Alicia has also completed a specialized mindfulness-based training focused on stress reduction.
Alicia’s extensive experience in higher education has provided her with a strong understanding of college student development and common mental health challenges that students face. She has over 10 years of experience in career counseling with undergraduate students, student athletes, and medical students. She enjoys helping young adults with “adulting”, goal setting, transitioning to college/jobs, and exploring career/majors.
Additionally, Alicia has experience working in private group practices with teens, couples, and adults struggling with Depression, Anxiety, Mood Disorders, Work Stress, Trauma, Relationship Issues, Grief, Life Transitions, ADHD/ADD, and various other conditions.
In sessions, Alicia demonstrates warm rapport, empathy, patience, and acceptance of where the client currently is in a non-judgmental, safe, trusting manner. Alicia uses a variety of techniques depending on the individual’s needs and comfort, such as Strengths-Based, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused, Psycho-Education, and Mindfulness strategies.
Alicia enjoys spending time outdoors by running, going to the beach, walking her dog, and making snow sculptures.
