Professional statement

Ania Baumritter is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker located in New York, NY. She has extensive experience helping clients suffering of depression and anxiety, unable to realize their potential, being locked in repetitive patterns. She helps by facilitating the process of working through feelings of pain and suffering, process of gaining understanding of who one is in one's social link. As a result of this work that engages both therapist and you, the client, an important work takes place that leads to the recognition of one's own desire and a change of one's position by allowing for a shift in own life trajectory.

Ania believes in the power of exploring and building narrative, and she facilitates the process that allows clients to draw from their past experiences and better understand who they are and where they come from. In her work Ania is interested in the manifestation of the unconscious processes through use of language, dreams, slips of the tongue and other ways the unconscious speaks. She encourages clients to reflect on what’s happening on a deep emotional level and how it connects to their mental health symptoms. Ania incorporates creativity and non judgment into her sessions, offering clients an opportunity to talk aloud about how they’re feeling and provides a place where the healing process unfolds.

Ania earned a Master’s degree in Social Work at New York University. Prior to that she received a master degree in psychology from the University of Warsaw. She has been a participant in the program of Apres Coup Psychoanalytic Association since its inception in 1987.

She has nearly 30 years of experience working as a social worker, having helped countless individuals to improve their mental health and uncover the unconscious processes holding them back.

Message to clients

Psychotherapy is a process of discovery and understanding of feelings associated with pain and suffering. It involves building of own narrative in the presence of the therapist (The Other, a substitute) allowing the understanding and alleviation of pain, shedding of destructive patterns. I work with people dealing with depression and anxiety, traumatic events of the past, struggling with lack of meaning and direction. I provide confidential, non judgmental, and creative space in which the process of cure unfolds and healing is possible.

I practice psychodynamic psychotherapy and psychoanalysis. I assist you in the process of uncovering of the unconscious processes and dynamics that may be impacting your life.
