Professional statement

Dr. Anna Scully is a Psychologist licensed in CA and VT. Her extensive background in neuroscience gives her a unique understanding of how experience changes our brain. She specializes in working with people affected by long-term stress, abuse, trauma and grief; as these experiences leave a deep impact on our brain and our lives.

Family, relationships and trauma all affect how we perceive ourselves, others and our world. But just as trauma and other negative experiences can create patterns that may lead to anxiety, depression, anger, unhealthy relationships, addictions or underachievement, new experiences can change those patterns.

No two people are alike, and so there is not one standard treatment that will work for everybody. Dr. Scully works to find the tools that fit best with her client's needs. Among other tools, she uses Mindfulness and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) to build awareness of pattern in thoughts and behaviors, and to help clients make changes in automatic, trauma driven responses. Dr. Scully also works extensively in Internal Family Systems (IFS) which focuses on healing the wounded parts of our psyche and restoring mental balance and harmony, by changing the dynamics that create inner discord. Dr. Scully is kink-friendly and experienced in working with people in alternative lifestyles and relationships.

Dr. Scully earned a PhD in Psychology from Princeton University. She has 15 years of experience working and teaching in the mental health field. She provides a safe, non-judgmental place to work with your memories, feelings and thoughts in new ways. Together you will work to create new experiences that change the patterns of your brain and of your life.
