Anna Silva is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Cambridge, MA who works with teens ages 17 and up, adults, and couples.. She works primarily with individuals and couples who are in the midst of a big change or transition, or who are experiencing relationship challenges. She is particularly passionate about working with people who identify within the LGBTQ community. Anna works best with clients who are looking for a safe and supportive place to explore and also to be challenged to make changes.
Anna also has expertise in helping individuals and couples navigate a range of life experiences, including the coming out process, the transition to college, early-20s identity exploration, difficulties in long-term relationships, and parenting. She understands the unique complexities clients may face at each of these stages, and she has spent her career thus far learning how to be as helpful and as effective as possible in guiding them through these incredibly challenging and important times. Anna really enjoys working with young adults and families.
Anna’s therapeutic approach is relational and systems-focused. She is particularly interested in how her clients interact with others and frequently utilizes Internal Family Systems (IFS), a type of talk therapy based on the assumption that within each of an individual’s mind, there are multiple different "sub-personalities" or "parts." She spends time helping her clients reconnect with their sense of self and become more aware of all of their parts.
Anna cares about each of her clients and wants them to be their most authentic and best self. Before working in private practice, she worked at Family Continuity Outpatient Clinic, where she mainly worked with families and with queer-identifying individuals. She received her MA from Lesley University. She looks forward to meeting you at her office, conveniently located near Harvard University.
