Asunta DeRienzo is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Boston, MA who sees college students and adults across the lifespan. She has extensive experience working with college students and young adults, especially those who have experienced trauma. She also specializes in depression, anxiety, mindfulness, and spirituality.

Asunta takes a holistic approach that incorporates the mind, body, and spirit. She also utilizes positive psychology to help her patients discover their strengths and explore what makes them happy and makes life worth living. She spends time getting to know her patients before developing an individualized plan that takes into account their background, goals, and needs. She really enjoys incorporating mindfulness when appropriate and offering new techniques to see what works for a patient.

Asunta ultimately wants her patients to thrive and feel empowered to take control of their life and find a lifestyle that works for them. She has ten years of experience working with children, adolescents, and adults, including working at a college counseling center. She also served as an adjunct psychology professor for three years. Asunta received an MA in holistic counseling from Salve Regina University. She looks forward to meeting you.

My intent is to examine the challenges you are currently struggling with while integrating a multitude of holistic and creative approaches using evidence-based treatments. My education and training has granted me the opportunity to treat the whole-person. As we walk through this together, my hope for you is to find fulfillment within yourself, your relationships, and healing.


Anxiety - Coping with excessive worry, nervousness, or stress; intense discomfort in social settings (social anxiety); sudden and intense feelings of panic (panic disorder)

Depression - Providing support and promoting healing of hopelessness, low motivation and energy, sadness, irritability, sleep disturbance, and loss of interest and pleasure in life

Trauma - Coping and healing after threatening or scary events, such as witnessing accidents or experiencing sexual, verbal, emotional, or physical abuse

Mindfulness - Practices to encourage a state of active, open attention on the present

Spirituality & religion - Exploring beliefs and practices related to meaning, existence, and spiritual health and healing; enjoying a deeper felt connection with the spiritual dimension of one's life

College mental health - Anxiety, stress, and depression that may arise during college
