Professional statement

Dr. Claire Golden specializes in supportive, goal-oriented talk therapy. She uses strategies from many different modalities, including CBT, DBT, and motivational interviewing, but does not strictly follow a set course of therapy. Instead, she allows each client to drive therapy based on their concerns, needs, and motivation to change.

Clientele includes adolescents and adults struggling with mild-to-moderate impairment related to anxiety, depression, and/or a combination of feelings. The current pandemic climate lends itself to feelings of disconnect, lack of control, and irritability, and Dr. Golden realizes it can be very helpful to talk to someone who is not a member of your own household! Her goal is to provide support and help clients to identify areas of stress/change that can be modified to improve functioning and increase happiness.

Dr. Golden is available for remote therapy sessions only, and has office hours during the day, early morning, and evening.

Dr. Golden is also a developmental neuropsychologist providing comprehensive neuropsychological evaluations for children, adolescents, and adults who are struggling in their respective environments. Evaluations can help with diagnostic clarity, recommendations for interventions and accommodations in school and in the workplace. Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. Golden is providing limited neuropsychological consults on a case-by-case basis.

Message to clients

Seeking out therapy is such a big step - the most important part is finding someone you respect who also respects you. It is scary to open yourself up to a stranger, but it can also be so freeing to be able to be yourself with someone who has no "skin in the game," so to speak. I love to provide judgement-free supportive therapy to help individuals process feelings of anxiety and lack of control associated with the current pandemic.

I also enjoy helping professionals set boundaries and provide executive function support to increase productivity and protect personal/family time. My work as a neuropsychologist makes me uniquely able to help parents of students with special educational needs navigate remote learning and I can help families set up goals/behavior plans.

Anxiety - Coping with excessive worry, nervousness, or stress; intense discomfort in social settings (social anxiety); sudden and intense feelings of panic (panic disorder)

Depression - Providing support and promoting healing of hopelessness, low motivation and energy, sadness, irritability, sleep disturbance, and loss of interest and pleasure in life

Managing work at home - Understanding stressors of working from home and discovering new ways to adjust and maximize efficiency

Executive function support - Helping people increase their motivation, attention, planning, and organizational skills; providing concrete, practical strategies so people can achieve goals both at home and in the workplace

Neuropsychology - Utilizing neuropsychological tests to assess treatment needs
