Professional statement

Dr. Clara Fajardo sees couples and individuals for psychotherapy. She also completes personality testing and neuropsychology screening. In her psychotherapy practice, Dr. Fajardo works from an integrative orientation, incorporating the latest research on effective psychotherapy with developmental, psychodynamic, acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) and some cognitive-behavioral therapy. This is dependent upon the client's issues, style of thinking, and therapy goals. Dr. Fajardo is also trained in Emotionally-Focused Therapy (EFT) for couples, one of the few evidence-based psychotherapies for couples.

Dr. Fajardo attended The University of Denver for her doctorate, completed her Internship at McLean Hospital (affiliated with Harvard University) and South Shore Mental Health in Boston, and received additional training at an APA-accredited postdoctoral Fellowship at The Durham VA Medical Center (affiliated with Duke University) in North Carolina.

Dr. Fajardo has immediate openings and both in person and virtual availability!

Message to clients

Sometimes we don't even realize how stressed we are until we find a safe space to share what's been going on in our lives. Having an expert on the other side of the room who is listening, responding, and engaged can make a world of difference - and quite literally lift the weight of the world off one's shoulders. My job is to support you and help you think through new angles on your life; to help you create the space and lightness you crave. Whether you are seeking therapy or psychological testing to inform your next steps academically or interpersonally, the goal is for you to create balance and make headway in your life.

Because therapy is a dynamic relationship but also a safe space you will be encouraged to think through interpersonal patterns and learn to take responsibility for your side of relationship equations - but also to skillfully express boundaries when they need to be there. This includes an openness to both client and therapist safely discussing our relationship as patterns that arise in work, family, friendships, and other types of relationships are also visible between client and therapist. When "together" works - whether it be in the client/therapist relationship, co-working partnerships or life partnerships - you are noticing your values, how they interact with others, discussing them and learning from yourself and others, and empowered and wise and making decisions based on your values in a way that is appropriately inclusive of others and productive for you.
