Connie Seligman is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Certified Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapist in Florham Park, New Jersey. IFS  is an approach to therapy that helps people overcome the forces, things, or feelings that get in their way in relationships and work life.  She specializes in self-esteem, depression, relationship concerns, family issues, and trauma. Connie also has extensive experience working with clients who are experiencing anxiety due to both internal conflicts and external pressures.

Clients often seek Connie’s support when they’re facing a difficult or particularly impactful life transition, such as a big move, a career shift, or a breakup. These transitions are often accompanied by uncomfortable emotions such as fear, anger or sadness.

Connie empowers her clients to navigate these changes by incorporating mindfulness and radical acceptance into her clinical approach.   In building these skills, clients are better equipped to understand and manage their situations, as well as their emotions and reactions.

Using her expertise in IFS, Connie helps clients explore, engage with, and ultimately understand the various, often conflicting, aspects of their minds. It is Connie’s hope that clients take the tools and insight that they gain from therapy to reconnect with their inner strengths and find a new level of internal peace, meaning and genuine satisfaction with their lives.

Message to clients

When life deals you a blow that knocks you off your feet, it's hard to see how talking to a therapist can help. It's true we can't change what happens in the world but we can change how we react when bad things happen. Many of us have inner critics that tell us to “be positive” or “stop feeling sorry for ourselves.” Loss feels bad enough; it doesn’t help to feel guilty about feeling bad, or angry. Often these inner critics are driven by a fear that uncomfortable emotions such as sadness or anger will overwhelm you. I know how to help people to feel grief or despair without sinking into it; or anger without being carried away by it. It may be hard to believe this, but letting yourself feel can actually be liberating.

By focusing on your internal world, I can help you cope with dignity, grace and strength.
