Message to clients

Hi my name is Debra Villar and I am a licensed mental health counselor in New York with over 20 years of experience in the mental health field and have found that connecting with people has been one of the most rewarding opportunities for me…

In thinking about my career, my areas of expertise focus on relationships, effective communication, building intimacy and creating meaningful connections. I work with many individuals that are struggling with life transitions and stressors that manifest in high levels of anxiety and depression.

Many of my patients are faced with barriers on how to nurture and maintain healthy relationships, this can include setting appropriate boundaries for self-care as well as engaging in effective communication that fosters a safe environment to be both assertive and also to be heard.

Every interaction with a patient is unique so my approach is meeting the patient where they are at by developing trust and building rapport…I think it’s equally important that a patient remains open to the process with an understanding that change requires effort & my goal is to support them through it all…

When I think about a practice philosophy I truly believe that all people deserve a safe place to share, to be heard and to find acceptance. With compassion as a foundation, healing is possible…..

I would be honored to share this journey with you.
