Professional statement

Eliza Coard is a Licensed Independent Social Worker located in Boston, MA and supports young adults and adults who are going through major life transitions such as a change in relationship status, career, or life stage. Many of her clients are going through divorce or emerging from a long term relationship. Others are adjusting to life away at college as they live independently for the first time. Eliza is passionate about providing accessible, high quality mental health services for anyone who feels like they need more support in their lives.

Eliza bases her therapy approach on the client’s unique needs, personality, and preferences. She offers clients a concierge service for mental health, providing them with ways to contact her between sessions for comprehensive, accessible care that has lasting effects. By including this communication in her work, Eliza finds that her clients make progress faster, as they integrate their mental health into their daily lives in a way that they might not if they solely relied on weekly sessions. In sessions, Eliza takes clients through therapy approaches like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a thoughts-based therapy modality that draws the connection between thoughts, feelings, and actions, and Family Systems therapy as a way to integrate the many parts of themselves to find a sense of balance despite change around them. Eliza strives to ensure that everyone feels comfortable in her sessions as they discuss what’s happening in their lives.

Eliza earned a Master’s degree in Social Work. She began her private practice as a way to help those who are going through major life transitions, as she recognizes that these transitions can disrupt people's mental health and self-identity. By providing them with engaging emotional support, Eliza helps clients recenter their worlds and adjust to the new normal.
