Dr. Emily Stewart is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) in the state of Massachusetts. She has experience working with individuals across a range of age groups in a variety of settings, including outpatient hospital systems, nonprofit organizations, residential treatment facilities, and schools. Emily is particularly passionate about working with children, young adults, and families and has experience treating a wide range of issues including depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, life transitions, relational issues, postpartum adjustment, and crisis intervention.
Emily holds a Doctorate in Social Work from Simmons University, received her Master’s Degree in Social Work from Boston College and her undergraduate degree in Psychology from Endicott College. Her doctoral research focused on reducing racism at the intersection of the child welfare system and pediatric healthcare system. Outside of her clinical practice, Emily continues to engage in work to support improvement in behavioral health practices in pediatric healthcare spaces.
Emily applies a social justice orientation to her practice and is committed to tailoring her therapeutic approach to be inclusive and reflective of each individual client’s needs. She recognizes that therapy is not a “one size fits all” approach and works closely with each client to develop treatment plans that support their individual goals and overall growth. She believes that therapy is a tool to empower clients in recognizing their existing strengths and capability to build resilience, and will always prioritize enhancing a client’s self-sufficiency in handling life’s stressors.
