Gabi Miano is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) specializing in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy in NY. Gabi has extensive training in empirically supported therapies including Exposure and Response Prevention Therapy for OCD (ERP), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), CBT for Eating Disorders, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and Habit Reversal Therapy. She additionally has experience using STAIR-NST, Prolonged Exposure, and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) to treat trauma.
Gabi’s therapeutic stance is one of compassion, openness, and mutual collaboration. She believes strongly in using evidence-based treatments in her practice, while also adapting her approach to meet her clients’ distinct needs and goals. Gabi aspires to help work with her clients towards building awareness and flexibility, learning skills to cope with difficult emotions, exposures, and more. Gabi’s CBT approach is goal-directed and present-focused, and she works with clients on creating meaningful change, and generalizing that change to many different areas of life. At the same time, Gabi leaves room to acknowledge and validate the role of the past, and how each person’s unique context may inform their current patterns, in the service of making changes in the present.
Gabi completed her master’s degree in social work at Columbia University, with a specialization in clinical practice. During her master’s at Columbia, she received intensive training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), as an intern with the DBT Training Program and Lab, under Dr. Andre Ivanoff. Thereafter, she was a senior staff clinician and supervisor at The Reeds Center, a Manhattan based training and treatment center, and specialized in treating disorders such as OCD, trauma, and anxiety.
Gabi has availability both in person and virtually. Please feel free to message Gabi to request a complimentary phone call consultation.
