Dr. Greg Emanuelson is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor – Supervisor (LPCC-S) in North Canton, Ohio. He works with adults & adolescents aged 13+ with some combination of mental health, addiction and/or trauma concerns looking to cope better and manage life on life’s terms. Greg is passionate about serving those individuals with dual disorders because the complex interactions among these concerns makes life more difficult. Greg also has advanced training in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing) therapy that neutralizes past intrusive memories triggered in the present such that the individual can adapt to the future. In other words…move from not just being a survivor, but becoming a thriver!
Greg is trained in multiple evidenced based practices (Motivational Interviewing, CBT, EMDR), focusing on promoting change from within to empower individuals to their personal best. He guides clients towards growth through empathy, support, and honoring autonomy all the while acknowledging that making change can be distressing. This approach supports clients to resolve concerns, cope better, and reduce distress in their lives.
Greg’s style is collaborative, caring, and compassionate. He will strive to understand the specifics of what is prompting the need for therapy now. Greg provides a relationship that is based on honesty and respect since clients know themselves better than anyone else.
Greg received his PhD in Counselor Education from The University of Akron after earning his Master of Arts in Counseling from The Ohio State University. He has gained over 25 years of clinical experience by working with all age ranges in both outpatient, inpatient, and residential treatment programs to assist his client’s growth. Outside of private practice, he is an Adjunct Faculty member at Kent State University where he teaches and supervises both Masters & Doctoral students learning to better themselves as the next generation of successful counselors.
