Heather Bonds-Harmon is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker in Providence, Rhode Island. She specializes in grief and loss, trauma, LGBTQIA topics, challenges around life transitions, and spiritually. Heather especially enjoys working with members of the LGBTQIA community and has extensive experience helping clients navigating questions around gender and sexuality.

Heather takes a holistic approach to treatment, addressing wellness across mind, body, and spirit. Her approach combines insight-oriented modalities to help clients better understand themselves and their current struggles, and skills-based practices to teach clients coping strategies to manage their emotions and improve interpersonal communication. Heather also provides Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), a type of therapy designed to relieve the distress of traumatic memories.

Heather aims to establish a trusting and collaborative therapeutic relationship with her clients. She deeply appreciates the courage and strength it takes for clients to enter therapy and encourages them to open themselves up to the process of healing and wholeness.

Message to clients

Entering therapy and expressing a desire to work on expanding your best self is a step of courage and true strength. At the time, it may not feel that way. However, this is how I humbly view the clients I have been fortunate enough to work with and share in their process of healing and wholeness. It's a great honor that I do not take lightly when meeting a new client and forming a therapeutic relationship with them. This foundational work is what sets the tone to be able to dig deep and share your most authentic self in a space without judgement.
My belief about therapy is that you are the expert on you. However, perhaps you are trying to further develop this aspect of self or have found yourself a bit lost in discovering your best self along the way. My hope is to reflect back to you things that may have become hidden, to look at patterns of behavior and see if these behaviors hinder or help you, and to help you evaluate attitudes or beliefs that may be interfering with where you want to be.


Loss and grief - Emotionally preparing for the anticipated passing of a loved one; managing feelings and reactions to a death or loss of significance; support during the process of healing and acceptance

Trauma - Coping and healing after threatening or scary events, such as witnessing accidents or experiencing sexual, verbal, emotional, or physical abuse

LGBTQIA concerns - Exploring topics of sexuality, gender, and identity; coping with discrimination and oppression; navigating relationship, family, and cultural challenges

Life transitions - Coping with difficult or impactful life changes, such as moving to a new area, relationship transitions, child rearing, or career changes; learning self-care to better manage resulting stress

Anxiety disorders - Coping with excessive worry, nervousness, or stress; intense discomfort in social settings (social anxiety); sudden and intense feelings of panic (panic disorder)
