Professional statement

Janessa is a dedicated mental health therapist with a strong background in employment and social services before she came to her career in counseling. Janessa's clientele include those who are facing major life transitions such as a change in life stage, employment, relationship status or faith/belief system. Her clients range from age 16-65, and she welcomes all gender identities.

Janessa feels strongly that therapy should be a collaborative process. She utilizes Acceptance and Commitment Therapy to build the skills to contextualize the client's concern, and learn to embrace the surrounding thoughts and feelings. She is passionate about cultivating self-empowerment enough to move forward with committed action toward living within the client's values.

Narrative therapy is used when the client is looking to explore larger themes and past traumas. She helps clients to rewrite their life stories and integrate them to be a source of strength and resilience. Additionally, Janessa employs the use of mindfulness techniques as a tool to regulate and soothe when life continues to be challenging. All of this together, is how Janessa empowers clients to heal , and handle life with grace and presence in the face of past present and future adversities.

Message to clients

If you find yourself in transition or struggling to integrate the past into the present, together we can lay all the pieces out on the table and build it back together in a way that feels whole and healed. My goal is that you find strength within yourself to live life outside of therapy soon after you've began and utilize it as a tool when you need it moving forward. I am here to meet you where you're at and then encourage the best version of you to continue to show up. Wishing you wellness wherever you are on your journey!
