Professional statement

Jasmynn Abernathy is a licensed marriage and family therapist based in Torrance, California. Her primary focus is helping individuals and couples heal their relationships. She also specializes in helping clients navigate beyond overwhelming emotions, burnout, and trauma.

Jasmynn approaches her clients with warmth, acceptance, and cultural sensitivity. She comes alongside her clients to set feasible goals and teach practical tools that can be implemented immediately to create positive change in their lives. Jasmynn hopes to empower her clients to feel equipped to transition from therapy with a renewed confidence in their ability to get the relationships they desire.

Jasmynn has completed basic training in EMDR, an evidence-based approach recognized by the World Health Organization as highly effective for treating trauma. She has also been formally trained in DBT with Treatment Implementation Collaborative. She utilizes CBT strategies and techniques obtained in her training through Los Angeles County’s Department of Mental Health.

Jasmynn offers online therapy for those who are located in California. Online sessions are generally conducted via a HIPAA-compliant web-based platform designed to protect client privacy and security. Though video sessions are preferred, phone sessions may be used on occasion when appropriate.

Message to clients

I admire your courage as you seek a therapist. Whether you’re looking for support for yourself or a family member, I want to encourage that relief and healing are possible. I realize therapy can be challenging and believe that feeling stretched is usually a sign of growth. I am honored to play a supportive role in your journey.

I offer video sessions or in-person sessions at my office in south Torrance.

Please note that I only accept Lyra insurance, and I'm not in-network with any other insurance providers. I offer a superbill for those using out-of-network benefits.
