Professional statement

Jasmynn Abernathy is a licensed marriage and family therapist in Torrance, California. She supports new parents as they navigate the new landscape of their marriage, focusing on issues surrounding emotional and physical connection, communication, and conflict management.

If you’re single or your partner/spouse isn’t ready or willing to do couples therapy, Jasmynn provides individual therapy to address relationship traumas and challenges. As a mom of two, Jasmynn can relate to the intimate changes that many moms face. She enjoys supporting women with issues relating to pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum.

Jasmynn approaches her clients with warmth, acceptance, and sensitivity. She comes alongside her clients to set feasible goals and teaches practical tools to see immediate changes. Jasmynn hopes to empower her clients to feel equipped to transition from therapy with a renewed confidence in their ability to have the marriage and relationships they desire.

Jasmynn has completed training in Interpersonal Psychotherapy for Perinatal Mental Health, EMDR, a world-renowned trauma treatment, and has years of training and experience as a DBT therapist for emotion regulation disorders. Jasmynn incorporates Gottman Therapy with couples and individual CBT strategies obtained in her training through Los Angeles County’s Department of Mental Health.

Message to clients

Many couples face the challenges of adjusting to becoming new parents. You’re not alone! Keeping up with the demands of parenting and taking care of your marriage/relationship can be incredibly overwhelming. I want to encourage that getting beyond the roommate stage and having a greater bond in this new season is possible.

I offer online video sessions and in-person sessions at my office in south Torrance.

Please note that I only accept Lyra insurance, and I'm not in-network with any other insurance providers. I offer a superbill for those using out-of-network benefits.

Have questions? Schedule a brief phone consultation to see if we’d be a good fit.
