Professional statement

Jennifer Cota is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Brooklyn, NY who specializes in anxiety, mood disorders, life transitions, and trauma, including a history of sexual trauma and/or childhood abuse. She has experience working with adults across the lifespan, including college students.

Jennifer utilizes a number of different treatment modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), mindfulness practices, and Psychodynamic Therapy. Jennifer lets her clients lead the sessions and develops a treatment plan that takes into account their needs and goals. She also educates her clients on why they are feeling the way they do and helps reduce the shame and guilt associated with it.

Jennifer offers a safe, nonjudgmental space where clients can share as much or as little as they are comfortable with. She is there to listen and support her clients on their journey towards healing. Outside of private practice, Jennifer works at The Bridge Community Clinic. Her office is located just steps from the Borough Hall subway station in Brooklyn Heights.
