Jennifer Oh is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker located in CA. Jennifer is passionate about providing Asian American clients with the support they need to develop their mental health. Many of Jennifer’s clients feel guilty for their unhappiness. They’ve grown up hearing about their family history, which places a heightened pressure on them to live a certain way, even if that doesn’t feel authentic to them. They face imposter syndrome, depression, anxiety, burnout, and stress. Sometimes, this can occur after a traumatic event. Other times, poor mental health arrives out of the blue and feels very confusing.
Jennifer specializes in two evidence-based therapy modalities: Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). These therapy modalities are effective in treating trauma and emotional dysregulation, including excessive crying, feeling overwhelmed without the ability to self-soothe, and feeling a sense of despair. Often, Jennifer’s clients have internalized harmful messages about their self-worth, which can come from their families and communities. Jennifer teaches them how to banish the thoughts and beliefs that lead to low self-esteem, such as self-criticism and judgment. She also helps clients grow their communication skills and set boundaries with themselves and others around them, including family members, coworkers, and partners.
Jennifer earned a Master’s degree in Social Work. She encourages clients to show themselves compassion and to take care of themselves physically and emotionally, starting with the small things. She empowers clients to feel engaged in and excited about their lives, and to feel in control of their futures.
