Jill is a licensed mental health counselor, LMHC, who serves all of Rhode Island via virtual video. She has experience treating anxiety, depression, PTSD and trauma, life transitions, work and/or school related stress. She works primarily with adult individuals.
Jill is trained in cognitive processing therapy (CPT), which helps people recover from PTSD related symptoms. It is an evidenced-based approach where clients are helped to recognize negative thoughts created by the traumatic event(s), called stuck points, and teaches clients to consider new and/or alternative views/perspective about the traumatic event(s).
Jill works by creating space for clients to share their lived experiences and related thoughts and feelings. Tangible strategies are identified for clients to use and practice to get on a path to feeling better. Personal strengths are identified and incorporated to promote growth and healing. She utilizes a person-centered, trauma-informed approach and incorporates self-compassion, mindfulness strategies, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and interactive feedback throughout a session.
Most people have the answers within them for whatever they might be struggling with - my job is to help clients identify and highlight those solutions, and find ways put these solutions into practice.
Jill graduated with a masters degree in clinical mental health counseling from Southern New Hampshire University. Her experience includes opportunities working in settings such as partial hospital, private practice, and community agencies.
