Professional statement

Jodi Rabkin-Turner is a Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Mental Health Counselor, and a Certified Addictions Counselor located in Greenacres, FL. Jodi has nearly 30 years of experience working with young adults, adults, couples, families, and parents in the mental health setting. Jodi works with those whose depression or anxiety lead to unhealthy patterns with and dependencies on substances, including alcohol and drugs. Often, these addictions begin as a response to trauma, including previous abandonment and immense feelings of grief after a significant loss. Jodi specializes in helping those with codependencies and issues with abuse.

Jodi’s approach to helping her clients begins with processing through trauma. She encourages clients to talk openly about what they’ve been through and what impacts their mental health, working through the challenging emotions that arise in those situations. Jodi offers clients hypnotherapy, a therapy modality that can be beneficial for those who want to change their habits. She also incorporates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and psychoanalysis, helping clients further understand their thoughts and feelings and how they interact with one another.

Jodi earned a Master’s degree in Counseling from Hofstra University. She encourages clients to  break through to a level deeper than the surface level and to address the core issues in their lives. This can promote change and increase their wellbeing, helping them grow their resilience and ability to cope with life’s stressors.

Message to clients

I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC in Florida), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC in Colorado), Certified Hypnotherapist (NBCCH), Master's Level Certified Addiction Professional (MCAP) and a Master Addiction Counselor (MAC). I have a B.A. in Psychology from SUNY Stony Brook and a M.S.Ed, Major in Counseling with distinction from Hofstra University, NY. I have also taken updated counseling courses at FAU.

I tend to break through surface level issues and get to the core issues a person has in order to promote change and well being in the individual. People tend to open up to me due to my empathy and understanding of trauma, and its effects on their behaviors

I specializes in most areas that people struggle with including depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, co-dependency, substance abuse, domestic violence and trauma. I treat each client in an individual manner and no two treatments are exactly the same. Some of the methods I use in our sessions include, Art Therapy, CBT, Psychoanalysis and Motivational Interviewing.
