Message to clients

I believe that the baseline of any healthy therapeutic relationship is mutual respect and open communication. Sometimes people come to therapy not really knowing what they need; they just know that they want to feel better. Although my passion lies in utilizing family systems theory, I adapt the session focus to meet the client's needs at that moment. This can be a safe space to vent without consequence or to receive feedback without judgment. It can also be structured and process-oriented. There is honestly no right way to do therapy, but I will ask you to do work and challenge your thoughts, emotions and vulnerabilities in order to feel better. I named my practice Joyful Journey Counseling Services because I believe that a therapist really is a guide on a person's journey in life; it is also a moderately clever use of my first name. I do hope that whomever you choose to be your guide, you find happiness and satisfaction on your journey.
