Professional statement

Julie Blythe is a licensed clinical social worker in Illinois, but her journey started as an OB/Gyne/NICU and Pediatric RN helping families whose babies did not survive. Having a baby is a joyful thing until it goes wrong. She worked with these families in the hospital and ran a monthly SHARE group and a Pregnancy After Loss group.

In her practice, she sees adults and children aged ten and up. She is willing to consider seeing younger children on a case-by-case basis. She also offers couple's therapy.

Julie is happy to include your spirituality in therapy, but you will be the one who brings it up. Some clients may be nervous that she is an ordained minister, but rest assured, you take the lead on any discussions about religion or spirituality.

She treats people with the following: Posttraumatic Stress Disorder, Depression, Anxiety, Bipolar I and II, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, ADHD/ADD, Adjustment Disorder, and Panic Disorder, among other conditions.

If you choose to see Julie as a therapist, you will find that she is a warm, caring person. She will tailor your therapy to your condition and life situation and does her best to be available to clients during business hours and emergencies.

Clients can expect to learn and use new coping skills to help them handle and function with their mental health and life issues. Julie is easy to talk to and listens to her clients. You will take away new knowledge about your conditions, including better ways to function with those conditions.

Julie uses a variety of methods and tools with her clients depending on what their needs are. She uses Solution Focused Therapy, CBT, Motivational Interviewing, and other therapy methods.

As a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional II, Julie’s specialty is working with clients who have experienced trauma. She is also a Registered Nurse and an Ordained Presbyterian Minister, so she is comfortable talking about spirituality. She has worked with many people dealing with sexual trauma and domestic violence, foster kids coping with trauma, and women who have been sex trafficked.
