Katie is a Licensed Mental Health Clinician in both Massachusetts and Rhode Island and provides therapy via telehealth. Her overall approach is one that combines trust, respect, direct yet compassionate feedback, and oftentimes humor so that each client can feel as comfortable as possible while also staying on track to work toward their goals.
Katie's ideal clients are those who are open to receiving feedback, willing to dig deep at times, do not mind a bit of humor as sometimes that is the best coping skill!, and are motivated to work through their current challenges outside of session as well - one of Katie's many quips is that it is 80% what happens outside of session (in terms of utilizing skills and strategies), and 20% what happens in session!)
When working with an individual, Katie utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution Focused Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help each person best meet their needs and goals. All fancy ways to say that Katie has skills to help you reframe anxious and sometimes irrational thoughts, build confidence, learn skills to “embrace the suck,” and overall feel more in control of your thoughts, your emotions, and your life.
Katie completed all her undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate work at Rhode Island College. She enjoys working most with individuals who are navigating life transitions and stressors, young adults transitioning in/out of school and/or the workforce, adolescents and their day to day challenges, and first responders who would like a safe and nonjudgmental space to talk through aspects of their work and challenges of being on the front lines.
