Professional statement

Liza Mazo is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker in Boston, Massachusetts with specialties in trauma and reproductive mental health including perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, miscarriage and infant loss, traumatic birth, and infertility. She works with both individuals and couples struggling with postpartum adjustment or bereavement as well as with couples regarding relationship and parenting challenges. Her practice focuses on healing by stabilizing symptoms, developing self-compassion, understanding one's own thought and relationship patterns, and in processing traumatic events and the impact they have on clients’ lives and relationships. Liza helps her clients develop sustainable coping skills to move forward and to find a renewed sense of calm and connection to their lives and communities.

Liza’s approach to treatment includes integrating a variety of methods including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Supportive Therapy, and Psychodynamic Psychotherapy to help clients navigate the healing process.

In addition to her expertise in trauma and reproductive mental health, Liza has a special interest in working with LGBTQ individuals, especially those who are starting a family. She cares deeply about building a safe, nonjudgmental, culturally affirmative space for clients to unpack all parts of themselves, find solace from painful memories, and move forward in life with confidence and peace.

Message to clients

I believe that therapy is a journey to understand our minds. It is a place for exploration, reflection, healing, and growth. Therapy is an opportunity to gain a greater awareness of why we struggle and to discover and explore the roots of our discomfort with a supportive person. I strive to provide and a warm and safe therapeutic environment, free of judgement, where all words, thoughts, and feelings are welcome.
