Professional statement

Matt has worked in the mental health field for around 20 years helping individuals overcome challenges. Along with individual therapy, he also ran groups providing education and support on issues ranging from common life stressors to severe mental illnesses, and provided supervision as a director and clinical supervisor.

Matt utilizes an eclectic approach of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Psychodynamic approaches, Motivational Interviewing, and Gottman Method couples counseling. He works with teens and adults and offers in person sessions out of his office in Holmdel, NJ along with remote sessions.

“I feel that along with teaching clinical interventions and providing education on mental health issues, the most important part of my work with you is coming together collaboratively to focus on you feeling better and reaching your goals. I’m excited for you to reach out so we can start making that happen.”

Message to clients

If you were to think about a better future for yourself, what do you envision? Are you feeling less stressed? Are you more confident? Is your relationship thriving? Are you getting more time to do the things you love? Therapy is a journey to find a path towards those goals. Therapy is an individualized process. Sometimes, we aren’t always aware of the thoughts, beliefs, and situations that prevent us from feeling better or getting our needs met. Other times, we are aware of these things but unsure on how to limit how much they impact us and how we can manage them. I see therapy as a way to develop a deeper understanding of the patterns that hold you back, get in the way of your goals, and keep you feeling depressed, anxious, and overwhelmed.

Therapy can be intimidating, but if you are ready to feel better, find more success, strengthen your relationships, and be the best version of yourself, I’m excited to join you on that journey.
